Caving
Introduction to Caving, the best of the NortheastTMO uses the Wards Gregory Cave System in Albany County. Clarksville, New York.
This is not a commercial cave with gift shops, etc.. It is a rual town area off in the woods with a dirt parking lot and NCC Cave access is by trail, ( short walk).
An Old Limestone
Cave with a stream running year round still helping to form it, lots of fossils to find, Nooks and Crannies to explore all while in a safe environment. Average temperature in cave 54 degrees, dark, damp and muddy lots of fun. Go in clean come out dirty and a little wet.
Required gear to enter cave
Old rain gear or Coveralls, Insulating layers (Poly-pro, wool, etc) Water-2, liters,Head lamp, Flashlight, gloves.
Required gear for after the cave
One complete change of clothes, towel. Plastic bag to put dirty clothes in and a personal snack & Non perishable bagged lunch.
TMO Scheduled Trip

Caving: - 8:30am - 4:00pm.
( CAR POOL if you can).
Drive time: - Approximately 2 hours up and back.

This Cave is owned and operated by the
Northeast Cave Conservancy
TMO uses only Leave No Trace methods while in the cave and surrounding area. Pack in Pack out.
We also need to
PRE - REGISTER your group with NCC. We will send you the
NCC Caving Wavier.
So plan ahead for some simple paper work to complete and send in.
